CLOSE-UP - Well, it looks good from the boundary, but if you stand on the ground and look along the scour-lines, you see the healthy young grass hasn't quite knitted across the ridges. 4 weeks is the minimum, then we need the council to decide the surface is firm enough that we don't just rip it off with the first slide.

Ratty:- well the seeds have been sown for a potential lush lawn

Kev Walker - An update on Craig Gamble after the Round 1 game today. I have just spoken with his wife Karina. He is going to be fine. They put his ankle back in alignment, but he does need suregery including a plate. Apparently that will happen tomorrow morning. He may be in hospital (The Alfred) for a few days - we don't know yet. If that happens, I will try and visit him at some stage. Craig is in good spirits, and he was very pleased that we won the game. Thanks to Cookie/Ming for getting that message to Craig. I will update this message when I have more info.

Cookie:- Thanks Kev for following up and posting the message. Ratty & I dropped into the Alfred yesterday after the game, but Craig was still in casualty and we couldn't get to see him. Ratty & I wrote a message to him. The charge nurse took that to him to read. We all wish Craig a safe and speedy recovery.

Kev Walker:- Further update on Craig. He had surgery this morning and had a plate put in. Based on what Karina told me, it seems that the break was to the fibula, the smaller bone. He is still in hospital, but may come home tomorrow (Tuesday). However, there is a chance that he may need more surgery and it could happen later this week, in which case he won't be home until later in the week. I passed on the message of support from his team mates to Karina and they both appreciate that.

Graig G:- Hi Lads,
am home now thanks for the visits, calls and messages of support.
Looks like I'm out for the rest of the season perhaps come down and wave a goal flag or 50 for you all later inthe year.
Re the ankle, broken fibula, torn both ligaments, destroyed cartiliage and torn ankle socket. So to repair replace this all, 1 x 7 hole saddle plate, with 5 screws ansd 1 x long screw (no Mick not that type) through the socket and ball of the ankle to hold the foot on.
Plaster off in 10 days, long screw out in 8 weeks, then can begin to put weight back on the foot, plate and smaller screws out in 10 - 12 months.
Hooray! thank god for morphine. Well done on the win, now to keep that rolling through the rest of the season.
Go Brunswick and thanks again to you all. - Craig

Ming - It appears 8 old fellas running back and forth across some perfect turf IST VERBOTEN!
So the MCC Rangers came out and sez we've gotta look somewhere else to train.
I'm trying to tee up a practice match on 15th April. Until then if you can make it, join in and have a run under lights with AscotVale, Walter Res, just off Epsom Rd Ascot Vale from about 5:30pm Thursdays. Frendly blokes, Vinnie plays there, just have a few refreshments and they'll be happy.

AFTER A WEEK OF RAIN - We finally have some green poking through! But the patch you see at the right is stringy-weed, and what was the unknown red stuff is some kind of succulent, that turns to mush after stepping on the same spot 5 times. Recovery for our May games is looking remote.

Date to be Decided - We need a Registration Day / Players Meeting at the Fleming Park Clubrooms sometime SOON to plan the season, a bit of a tidy-up, and a BBQ and drinks.
We need contacts for tiling, lino, plumbing and stainless, to fix up defects for Food Premises Registration.
Top of the discussion will be what we do for a home base for the season. Assuming it rains and we start on 29th April. Our ground is buggered, and we may be able to play a couple at Whitten Oval, and whereever else in Moreland that the council can give us (Gillon VFA, Coburg City Oval or DeChene?). Or should we investigate affiliating with Marcellin for the season? and how do we do that?

More:- * Brunswick Power will move to Broadmeadows within 2 years. * We will need to expand to make us financially viable.
* The over-47s comp is starting and a 47s-side of our own looks inviting for 2008 * What happens committee-wise in the future?.
* There's Lacrosse we could ground-share with on a more formal (costsharing) basis. * There's Mon & Wed social soccer played on our ground we could talk into sharing. * What form of association do we plan on going with? Questions Questions....
* State of Ground: Because our ground is so bad, I think the council might concentrate on getting other grounds back on line first. The grass may not grow back at all till spring if it doesn't rain soon because Moreland's ground crew will be snowed under rehabilitating all the grounds, without enough tractors, staff or seed. Can we be hopeful of a home game at all in 2007?
* Info about Easter carnival in Pambula NSW.

Cookie - Training has been good with notable appearances from: Milo, Ratty, Gib, Ruby, Mick, Mad Mick (once), Kev, Ming, Norm, Greggie, Chris (lost 15 kilos), Robbie, Tiger, Simmo....looking forward to seeing a few more on the track (velodrome)../

The Poacher (Ming):- Scott McInnes who played last year at Western Devils has moved to Brunswick. He can't train Tuesdays but I introduced him to the North Brunswick blokes on Thursday and he went OK. He was saying he'd like to stay with the one club, but Sunshine is too far away now, so if we could get a few more down to the velodrome on Thursday we'd make him feel a bit more welcome

NEW RECORD - New recruit RUBY KAADAN has smashed Champ GARY SANDERSON's 120 Fitness score.
(60 pushups in 60 secs and 60 situps in 60 seconds)
RUBY did 65 pushups and 67 situps (in 60+60secs) for a total of 132 !

Merciless:- I got 33 and 36 for a 69 - middling for a fat bastard (without ANY preparation).
These records were both done at age 40, and at the start of preseason, and probably by very serious fitness nuts. I've tried this torture on younger blokes and the best who had been in the gym all summer got 115.
